Voices of Flow #5

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Today’s video features Bob Geist, FCP, FCC, FCT who is one of our Flow Trainers. He is teaching-back Tile 3 (The Flow Friction Analysis).

The Flow Friction Analysis is one of the most powerful tools in our day-to-day work (and my brother Dan has a similar version back in the late 90’s when he taught a course on Leadership):

By the way, we will repeat a number of the videos since more than one person did the teach-back. So, this Wednesday, Jeff Kissinger will be doing the teach-back on this topic as well.

The Friction Analysis is something you can use right away in your daily work:

  • If you are experiencing Anarchy, then you probably need to work on your Vision (it’s either unclear or poorly defined).
  • If your team members are Anxious, it is highly likely that either they are the wrong person for the team or the team has a member(s) that doesn’t fit.
  • If your team members are Confused, then you need to look at all of your definitions (Team Vision, Goals, Objectives, Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, etc.).
  • If you are experiencing Politics, then you need to double-check to see if agreement has actually been Distilled.
  • If you are experiencing Chaos every time you want to Deliver your product, service and/or result, then you need to reexamine your Delivery way of working.
  • Finally, if you are not getting the desired results and are unable to Drive to success, then the most likely cause is Division (literally having two visions).

Bob covers this more in today’s video:

Using the Flow Friction Analysis in your daily work is your next step in applying Flow to achieve the results you want to deliver. So don’t delay – let’s chat!

For those that are not familiar with the Flow Leadership Framework & Mindset, it is what’s next for businesses and organizations that are ready to succeed regardless of the methods, frameworks or management tools that they use throughout their enterprise. Flow is methodology agnostic.

Are you ‘in the zone’ of optimal performance right now as a person, team or enterprise? Did you get there by accident or by focused intentional acts?

“Flow” gives you the way of working and mindset needed to create and maintain an optimal state of high performance as an individual, team or organization.

The Flow Leadership Framework turbocharges everything you do, including “business agile” leadership and Scaled Agile.
